Does GarageBand support Novation Launchpad? This thread is archived. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. You can use it as a MIDI controller on GarageBand, but the lights don’t work. So recently I just downloaded the Novation Launchpad on my iPad, but I plan on using it on my Mac's garageband. How do I set it up so that the two devices can be connected, and therefore play music using the two devices? Is ere an option to connect an external sound device for GarageBand Mac? GarageBand comes pre-installed on the iPad Pro and is a powerful and intuitive tool for making and recording music. There have a been a few major upgrades since the Pro was launched. A new Drummer simulation which creates grooves and beats using a virtual session drummer automatically syncs to whatever track you are making, but also allows you to play with the loudness and complexity of the beats, and Live Loops which provides a library of sample audio clips across a range of genres from Dubstep to Rock, which can be activated in a way similar to Novation Launch Pad clips.

GarageBand comes loaded with a decent amount of built in virtual instruments and Apple has also updated these recently by including some traditional Chinese instruments such as a Pipa and Erhu. You don’t get to edit the sound of each instrument much, but GarageBand does allow you to import and record sound from 3rd party instruments via it’s Inter-App Audio Interface and there are a load of great apps out there which you can play with and include in your masterpiece. If you are a muscian you can also record live audio through the built in sampler.

The best part about GarageBand however is the sequencer. Creating loops and making sounds is pretty easy, but laying it all to track and putting it into some sort of order which sounds good is usually the tricky part. GarageBand however makes this simple and intuitive even for complete beginners.

Along with the announcement of next-generation, M1-equipped Macs, we are also getting Logic Pro 10.6. Apple has now issued the latest update for its flagship music production software to coincide with the latest MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini models.
