Dubs is a smartphone app which enables people to go to a local movie theater to watch a movie in their own language.
For example, if a Spanish tourist visits London, they can download the Spanish language soundtrack for a movie and then visit a participating theater in London to watch that movie in Spanish.
Dubs works by finding where you are in the movie and playing back the alternative language soundtrack in perfect sync with the action on screen.
All you have to do is download the soundtrack and then visit a participating local theater to watch the movie using your smartphone and a pair of headphones.
English Audio Tracks For Movies
No, Dubs works only at movie theaters participating in Dubs network. These theaters are designated Dubs-Ready.
How To Add External Audio Language Track To A Video Or Movie In VLC Player
Before you can start watching a movie using Dubs, your phone needs to ‘check-in’ at the theater to ensure it is Dubs-Ready. This is an automatic process which starts when you use the app for the first time inside the theater. If your smartphone cannot check-in, the soundtrack will not play.
Tap on the Theaters menu item and Dubs will show you a list of Dubs-Ready theaters around you. You can also tap on the “Show Map” button to see these theaters on a map.
You will also find a list of local Dubs-Ready theaters and showtimes when reviewing a movie description.
Dubs is a very young company and, at present, we can only offer a limited choice of movies to users at participating theaters. We are, though, working extremely hard to make more movies and theaters available, and in the coming months we hope to offer a far wider choice of movies and theaters to Dubs users.
